While recording “How Much Is Enough” back in 2017, I was particularly excited about the 2nd of the 3 movements in that track. I remember very well the energy that hit me as I played the parts in that section. With a piano riff inspired by Sheena Easton’s “Sugar Walls” (Produced by Prince), I felt that section of the song was so strong that it deserved it’s own track. So, in 2018, I expounded on that idea with a more dramatic intro that includes a synth solo and ultimately explodes into it’s own vibe.

This version keeps the original rendition of the 2nd movement as it’s center section before closing out with a modified version of the 1st section. I have always intended to edit the 2nd movement into something different for this version but didn’t get to that until very recently. We’ll get to that on the next release…

2017 was a memorable year for me creatively. That year began with a hard drive crash that caught me being less than diligent with backing up my files. I lost almost 4 years of work! Ultimately, I was able to salvage a little bit, but I still took a very painful hit. In the aftermath of that came a flurry of creativity over the spring & summer. This flurry included a few tracks you may already know:

That First Sunrise:

version 2) https://waynebo.bandcamp.com/album/that-first-sunrise-waynebos-backbeat-mix

Dance At The Bottom: https://electricmaestro.bandcamp.com/track/dance-at-the-bottom

The Brickyard: https://thekingmidasproject.bandcamp.com/track/the-brickyard

The Long Ride Home: https://thekingmidasproject.bandcamp.com/track/the-long-ride-home

I Can’t Get Enough: https://solitaryscientist.bandcamp.com/album/i-cant-get-enough

These are the tracks I managed to release. There were quite a few more that are still waiting on their turn to see the light of day.

This, of course, brings us to today’s release.

One of the things I’ve wrestled with over the years is a tendency to over-produce. I often have to go back and remove elements from a track to get it right. With this one, I decided not to do that. I love the busyness of it and decided that this time, I would layer and add as many parts as I wanted to. That’s where the title came from.

“How Much Is Enough?” was recorded the same weekend as “I Can’t Get Enough”. It was supposed to be the second in a trilogy of releases. (If you listen, you’ll notice that I kept the same claps on both tracks because they started in the same session) I’ll spare you the ridiculous details and just say it didn’t work out.

The good news is this track will still be part of a trilogy. “How Much Is Enough” is a track that is delivered in 3 distinct movements. The 2nd movement starts just after the 3-minute mark and lasts about 2 ½ minutes. I love this 2nd movement so much that I made a version that centers around that portion of the track. We will get to that version next week.

In the meantime, enjoy another track that’s been sitting on my hard drive for over 5 years.

The music continues with release #3 in my "Cleaning The Archives" series. "The Long Ride Home" was recorded in the summer of 2017 around the same time I recorded "The Brickyard" - which was released in November of 2017. It was supposed to be released a few weeks after that track dropped, but that never worked out.

Hello my friends! I told you more was coming and today I’m delivering on that promise. As I told you previously, the first half of 2023 is about UNFINISHED BUSINESS. We continue the journey with release #2 in the “Cleaning The Archives” series.

“Lucid Clouds” was recorded back in 2013 a few days after I did “In The Box”. On this track, while I was still learning my way around my DAW, I was inspired to build a beat around a sample from the intro of “Awakenings” by The SoulJazz Orchestra from their 2010 album “Rising Sun”. (It’s a beautiful album. Highly recommended) The vibraphone chords in the sample give the track a laid-back undercurrent which creates a nice contrast to the 4-on-the-floor house drums.

Just like “In The Box”, I never actually finished a proper mixdown on this track, but thankfully, this rough draft was also well done. I sweetened it up with a few effects and mastering, but otherwise this is exactly what I did back in 2013.

Once again, more is coming soon. Stay tuned and thank you for your support.

Hello my friends. Happy New Year! It has been a long time since I have posted new TKMP music. Well, here's a new track and I promise you won’t have to wait another year for another one. In fact, you can expect a ton of new tracks this year!

The theme for the first half of the year is UNFINISHED BUSINESS. Over the next few months I will be releasing tracks that, for a variety of reasons, have been sitting on my hard drive for years. Let’s call this chapter – winter & spring of 2023 - “Cleaning the Archives”.

This is a track I created back in 2013. This was one of the first tracks that I created when I finally transitioned into making music on the computer. Thus, the title “In The Box”.
Stay tuned, more is coming very soon.

Some cool house vibes. Taking my house sound in a new direction with this one.

When I first created this track, something about it just made me think of blue. But "into the blue" just sounded too cliche`. So I looked up the names for some different shades of blue and found "Cerulean". And there you have it. The shade of blue in the cover art is

It’s time to get the summer started right!

The inspiration for “That First Sunrise” came to me as I considered the biblical account of the creation of the earth. I thought about the day that God created all of the animals and tried to imagine the experience from their perspective. It was warm and bright outside. They had the entire world before them and everything they needed. And then the night came…

It became dark and cold. They were probably confused and afraid. They had never experienced this. They didn’t know what was happening and had no way of knowing if or when the warmth and light of the sun would return. The beginning of the 1st “verse” – where you first hear the lead melody played on the Rhodes – represents sunrise. That moment when a sliver of light first peeked over the horizon. The most attentive of the animals begin to raise their heads and look at one another with uncertainty mixed with a touch of hope. It’s still cold, but no longer quite as dark.

As the light slowly increases, the animals begin to interact with one another – you hear this in the unison synth parts and the counter melodies. As light and warmth continue to increase – you hear the intensity of the track slightly increase. Even though it’s the first day, I like to imagine frightened babies looking to their parents for some sort of answer about what’s happening.

Then – just before the 3:00 mark - the moment of revelation occurs. Mid-morning approaches. They feel the warmth and see the light and recognize the sun has indeed returned! At that moment, they erupt into celebration and the party continues for the next 5 minutes… credits released May 31, 2019
