This latest release is an important one for TKMP. The sound & style of this new EP is the next step in an intentional shift which began last year. Moving the TKMP sound into the realms of Soulful House & Lounge is a change that should have happened years ago. Those of you who have listened to my DJ sets know I love soulful house music. But I almost never play my own tracks in my sets because, as a DJ, I knew they didn’t fit.

Don’t get me wrong. I love all the music that I have created as TKMP. That music was all created in moments of genuine inspiration. The TKMP catalog up to now represents what happens when I just sit down and create house music. But at some point, about a year and a half ago, I realized that it was kind of silly for me to create house music that I couldn’t even play in my own sets. Why would another DJ play my tracks if I wouldn’t even play them? I had to make a change. Either a) change the style of music in my DJ sets or b) change the style of music that I create.

I chose b.

This change was neither difficult nor painful. It’s just a matter of me learning to be a bit more intentional about what I create – which is something I should have been doing anyway. I hope you enjoy where I’m going.
